What is acupuncture?
It consist on the stimulation of specific points located in different parts of the body, using single use thin needles, or pressing down with the fingertips or suction cups, among other techniques.
Why do we stimulate those points?
Because their stimulation creates a cascade of neuroendocrine reactions, which in turn, lowers the inflammation, pain or dysfunction of the part of the body that is creating a problem.
It also stimulates the connective tissue, that goes from the smallest part of the body to the skin. When there is any problem in this tissue, it creates muscle tension and lack of oxygen in that part. Once the problem it’s solved, the muscle tension, pain, dizziness or headache, disappear.
This is why almost any health problem can be treated with acupuncture. In some cases it would cure it and in others it would give the person a better quality of life.
Here is a small list of problems that can benefit from acupuncture:
- Insomnia (acute or chronic).
- Anxiety.
- Depression.
- Dizziness.
- Vertigo.
- Helping to stop smoking.
- Muscle pain or injuries resistant to physiotherapy treatment.
- Digestive problems.
- Amenorrhea.
- Dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation).
- Increase of the quality of life in people receiving quimiotherapy treatment.
- Increase of the quality of life in people with cancer and/or any chronic disease.
