About me

I’ve always said that I didn’t choose to be a physiotherapist, physiotherapy chose me.
As a toddler, I used to ask my relatives if they wanted a head massage, because doing it would relax me.
It was in high school when I discovered physiotherapy and I knew instantly that I wanted to study it, but life happened and it took me a full decade to be able to study it.
In the mean time, because my vocation was, and still is, physical therapy and massage, I studied massage therapy and worked as a masseuse for 10 years, until I was able to finally study physiotherapy, in the middle of a global pandemic.

Why emphasize it was during a global pandemic?
Because of the uncertainty of the unprecedented situation that we were living, slowed down the healing process in a lot of injuries, in some cases, even leaving sequels that in other moment, wouldn’t have happened.
We need to see people as a whole, having in mind their emotional, because emotions affect the neuroendocrine system, which in turn releases substances such as cortisol that tense up muscles and stop the healing process (among other things).
Because of this, I understood that the more comfortable, safe and relaxed the person is during the session, the more easily their brain will stop sending alarm signals creating muscle tension and injuries.
Because of this holistic vision, I end up studying acupuncture, which I already knew due to personal experiences, and pelvic floor physiotherapy, which I didn’t know it existed until my 3rd year at university, but nonetheless I fell in love with it instantly because of how much pelvic floor muscles affect the entire body.
I discovered reflexology completely by chance. I would do a normal foot massage and after it, the person would tell me that they no longer had the headache, hemorrhoid or congested nose they had before the foot massage. As it kept happening again and again, I started researching about it, discovering that the part of foot they complained about, was the part that was related to the other problem, por example the large intestine in hemorrhoids. So, I decided to study the technique.
